by Maxwell Amunga on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 – 5:01 pm Senior government officials, led by the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, pay a visit to the KRA offices in Nairobi. Photo KRA The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has introduced Saturday operations and extended weekday service hours across its offices starting June 17, giving taxpayers more time to beat the June 30 filing deadline. Saturday operations in Huduma Centres have also been activated, and the tax offices will be open on June 20 and June 27 from 9am to 1pm for those who cannot make it during the week. KRA will also be keeping its offices open from 7am to 7pm on weekdays between June 17 and June 26, a significant extension from the usual hours of 8am to 5pm. On June 30, the final deadline day, those same offices will remain open until midnight, running from 7am to 12am, an unusually long stretch, especially for last-minute filers. The Contact Centre is also operating on an extended schedule, meaning that from June 17 to 19, it will run until 10pm before shifting to midnight operations from June 22 through to June 30. The Contact Centre will also be open on Saturdays, June 20 and June 27, between 9am and 4pm, offering phone and digital support to taxpayers who need help navigating the iTax portal. Additionally, select Huduma Centres have been roped in to ease congestion, with branches in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Meru, Kiambu, Kisumu and several other towns running from 7am to 7pm on weekdays. In Nairobi alone, five Huduma Centre locations are part of this arrangement, namely GPO, City Square, Kibra, Makadara and Eastleigh, meaning residents across the city have options closer to home. All other regular Huduma Centres, not on the select list, will stick to their standard 8am to 5pm schedule on weekdays and remain closed on weekends throughout the filing period. Taxpayers are reminded that Sundays remain off-limits across all service points, meaning the window to get assistance in person is strictly limited to weekdays and the designated Saturdays. Apart from the Huduma Centres and other KRA offices, KRA has come up with the WhatsApp filing using a chatbot named Shuru, and it operates on the official phone number +254 711 099 999 to further streamline the filing process. Launched on April 1, the bot allows taxpayers to access 15 different KRA services 24/7 directly from their mobile phones without visiting an office, a game-changer in the whole filing system.
