Online Cyber Cafe The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has explained why some motorists are unable to download the eLogbooks, revealing that those with existing physical logbooks must first apply for a duplicate logbook to access the digital version. While responding to a query, NTSA stated that those who currently own a physical logbook cannot immediately download the eLogbook. According to the authority, the download was unavailable because the motorists already had existing logbooks. “Kindly note that you already have an existing logbook. Apply for a duplicate logbook to get an eLogbook,” NTSA stated. An image of a sample logbook. Online Cyber Cafe The clarification comes after vehicle owners questioned the authority after their portal displayed a message stating that no downloadable logbook document was available when applying. The response has shed light on the ongoing transition from physical logbooks to the newly introduced eLogbook system , which allows vehicle owners to access, download, and verify ownership records online. The digital logbook system was launched on June 10, with all motorists directed to transition to the new system aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and security in vehicle ownership management. According to the authority, the physical logbooks remain valid registration certificates for vehicles even after the rollout of the digital system. NTSA therefore advised motorists who already possess physical logbooks to continue keeping them safely. In some cases, however, vehicle owners may be required to surrender the physical copies during replacement or conversion processes, as explained by the authority. One of the biggest advantages of the digital system is speed, making vehicle ownership transfers under the digital system take only one working day to be completed. Unlike physical documents that can easily get lost, the digital logbook can be downloaded multiple times without restrictions as long as ownership of the vehicle remains active.
